Ketosis, Taiwan Style

I'm reading a lot of internet posts/threads about getting into ketosis, but it seems most people with any useful information or recipes are in the US. Ingredients are different here in Taiwan, as are the foods commonly found here. Are there carbs in beef noodle soup? I dunno. And where does one find almond powder for cooking? Hmm?

I need to drop more than a few dress sizes, so I guess I'll start using this space as a weight-loss journal. The term "thinspiration" is mostly used in the realm of pro-ana/mia, but I think it's good for hard-core dieters to use while changing their lifestyle.

Anyone else in Taichung going low-carb want to share tips and tricks?

Here are some of the other sites related to keto/kotosis I'm following...

Two weeks ago I did two rounds of three-day water fasts, interrupted by a two-day fruit binge. This past week I cut out carbs completely, and today with a giant headache and nausea, I broke down and had a healthy wrap. I haven't bought any ketone strips, so I'm not sure if maybe today I experienced what some call "ketosis flu". Tomorrow is a new day, a day free of carbs and full of possibility.
